Florida International University
(FIU) was founded in 1965 on the territory of a former airport. In the postwar period, the US Congress decided to build a new public university that would be able to accept young people from America and other countries. Today, FIU is considered the largest university in South Florida, with about 54,000 students from all over the world.
Florida International University is recognized as an educational institution with the largest number of researchers and has the highest employment rates in the tourism industry. It ranks seventh in the list of the largest public universities in the United States.
