The University of Twente’s official establishment date is December 1, 1961. The university was opened by the Queen of the Netherlands herself. The first year consisted of only 200 students.

Today, the University of Twente is ranked 189th in the QS World University Rankings by TopUniversities.

UT is one of the most economically active universities in the Netherlands. It has created favorable conditions for startups, entrepreneurship, and international investment.
